Dedicated to Your
Kidney Health
for Nearly 50 Years

At Renal Specialists of Houston (RSOH), we are honored to have earned the trust of the Greater Houston community for nearly five decades. Founded in 1977 by Dr. Camilo Barcenas with an office located at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, the practice quickly grew with the addition of Dr. Whitson (Pete) Etheridge and Dr. Henry Muniz. Together, they expanded RSOH beyond the Texas Medical Center, opening the first dialysis facilities in Pasadena and Clear Lake. In the 1980s, Drs. Barcenas and Etheridge played a pivotal role in establishing St. Luke’s kidney transplant program, a legacy that continues today.

As Houston has grown, so have we. RSOH is now a team of 22 nephrologists and 5 advanced practice providers, committed to delivering expert, patient-centered care. Our physicians hold leadership roles in hospitals, national committees, and the Baylor St. Luke’s transplant program, while also serving as medical directors for 30 dialysis facilities. We provide care at 12 office locations, 18 hospitals, 2 transplant programs, and at a dedicated dialysis access surgical center.

Our mission? To bring comprehensive, compassionate kidney care to you—right in your community.
